It can never delete or dismantle anything: the Bungie API simply has no endpoint for destroying items, so the final shard decision always stays in your hands, in-game.

Completely free, no ads, no premium tier. It is a community-built companion app; if it saves you a god roll you can leave a small tip to help with hosting, but nothing is ever paywalled.

Weapon rolls are matched against curated community wishlists — over 180,000 recommended rolls maintained by respected curators. Enhanced perks count as their base versions, trash-roll flags are respected, and wishlists refresh automatically so verdicts follow the sandbox.

DestinyGPT searches your synced items with real query tools (the same search syntax the app uses), reads community perk explanations, and has a knowledge base built from Bungie's lore books and Destinypedia. It answers as Commander Zavala and can build complete loadouts from gear you actually own.

With Armor 3.0 math: archetype, artifice slots and stat tuning are read from the item's actual sockets, stats are compared at assumed masterwork, and a piece is only called redundant when another piece you own dominates every stat mix it could reach. Class items and set bonuses are handled too.

No — and that is by design. The Bungie API does not allow deleting items, so nothing the app (or its AI) does can ever destroy gear. The Shard List is a ranked suggestion; you do the sharding in-game. What it can do is prep the session for you: the Bulk actions page moves your confirmed junk onto your character in batches so you can dismantle back-to-back — locked items and high-kill favorites are never included, and the final dismantle is always your own in-game action.

The app stores your Bungie membership id, your synced item list and per-item appraisal verdicts, plus triumph and activity completion data — the things it needs to show your vault. You can delete your account and all synced data from the Settings page at any time.

Yes. Gear tiers (T1–T5), enhanced perks on Tier 5 weapons, Armor 3.0, anti-Champion perks and set-bonus armor are all understood. Legacy items are appraised with the same wishlists the community still maintains for them.

Yes. Bungie still ships manifest updates and the API remains online; the app re-imports game data automatically every night and unredacts new gear as soon as Bungie does. Vault cleaning arguably matters more than ever when every remaining drop counts.

A god roll is a weapon whose randomly rolled perks match the combination the community considers best for that weapon — usually one perk in each column that synergizes into more damage, faster reloads or better handling for a specific mode. Because "best" differs between PvE and PvP, most weapons have several god rolls. Shard or Keep aggregates curated community wishlists to show, per weapon, the perks curators agree are essential and which alternatives are worth keeping.

Usually only the best copy. Shard or Keep ranks duplicates automatically: a wishlist-matched roll beats a neutral one, a higher gear tier beats a lower one, and higher power breaks ties. Copies protected by a loadout are never suggested for sharding, and the New Drops page checks incoming duplicates against what you already own — so you can shard the loser the day it drops.

The vault holds 1,300 items, and Destiny stops letting you claim postmaster items when it is full. Most long-time players sit above 90% without knowing which 100 items are safe to shard — exactly the question an automated appraisal answers in one sync.
