Shard or Keep is a free Destiny 2 companion app. It stores the game data needed to appraise your vault, uses only essential cookies, and measures visits with self-hosted, cookieless analytics that never leave our server. No third-party trackers, no advertising, nothing is sold or shared.
When you sign in with Bungie, we store your Bungie membership ID, your Bungie display name, and OAuth tokens so the app can sync on your behalf. Syncing stores a copy of your Destiny inventory: items, perks, characters, triumphs and activity completions. This data exists solely to provide the app's features (appraisal, Shard List, loadouts, Content Explorer) and is kept for as long as your account exists.
We never receive or store your Bungie password, email address or payment information. Your vault data is isolated per account and is not visible to other users.
Only essential cookies are set: the session cookie and the CSRF token that keep you signed in and secure. There are no analytics, tracking or advertising cookies of any kind — which is why there is no cookie banner.
We run Umami, an open-source analytics tool, on our own server to see which pages and features are used. It sets no cookies and stores no personal data: visitor IP addresses and browser details are reduced to a short-lived anonymous hash that cannot be traced back to you, and raw IP addresses are never written to disk. Because no personal data is stored and nothing follows you across sites, this does not require consent — and the data never leaves our infrastructure or reaches any third party.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Signing out and revoking the app's access on Bungie.net stops all syncing; to have your stored vault data removed, get in touch via the Feature Requests page in the app.
