Inspired by @PodvsEnemies episode 109 from 17 July 2024 (https://open.spotify.com/episode/2nTeQvaqobDnHpu43iq8eH?si=091612d7b0604589) with @CourtProjects and @Saint_Kabr (PvE / PvE-MinorSpec / PvE-EndGame / PvE-God / M+KB / Controller): First-choice PvE pick for add-clearing Minor enemies in end-game content. Better Devils returns (again) as a strand adaptive hand cannon and, as you'd expect from a playlist weapon, the stats aren't good. However, the two trait perk columns have just about every PvE option you could ever want! And, you also have the choice of two reasonable origin traits to use as well. Use the barrel and mag perks to round out gunfeel stats. For end-game use, looking at first column trait perks that don't need a kill to proc and which further fill out the gunfeel stats Rapid Hit, Enlightened Action, Perpetual Motion all work. Air Trigger might be more of a PvP perk, but provides Outlaw-like reload speeds if you're off the ground. In the second column, One For All provides a +30% damage bonus for hitting three enemies, or Explosive Payload adds a little extra damage and flinch. The perk pool is huge, so reset Crucible rank as many times as you can before you start focusing engrams. Recommended MW: Handling or Stability, with a Backup Mag mod.

pandapaxxy (PvE / M+KB / Controller): "Better Devils returns to us in a different form, Strand. Does this increase its viability? Not entirely. It does allow for some Strand Synergy with Slice and Hatchling but for general use Reconstruction to bypass reloading alongside the extra damage from Explosive Payload or Frenzy will make this feel superb, by now many of us have hand cannons in the kinetic slot that we use for general PvE, but if you really wanted to invest fully into Strand then this is your guy." Recommended MW: Reload Speed.

Adamsdown_Boy - information as at v8.0.0.6 (PvE / PvE-MinorSpec / PvE-EndGame / PvE-God / M+KB / Controller): First-choice PvE pick for add-clearing Minor enemies in end-game content. However, the two trait perk columns have just about every PvE option you could ever want! And, you also have the choice of two reasonable origin traits to use as well. Use the barrel - Chambered Compensator or Extended Barrel make the recoil direction almost perfect and boost stability or range, and you can recover the lost handling with trait perks - and mag perks to round out gunfeel stats. For end-game use, looking at first column trait perks that don't need a kill to proc and which further fill out the gunfeel stats Rapid Hit, Enlightened Action, Perpetual Motion all work. For strand fragment synergy, Slice is very useful in the first trait perk column in end-game content to reduce an outgoing enemy's damage - probably most useful on a Hunter. In the second column, Hatchling further synergises with Strand, or look for a damage boosting trait perk like One For All, Frenzy or Explosive Payload. The perk pool is huge, so reset Crucible rank as many times as you can before you start focusing engrams. Recommended MW: Handling or Stability, with a Backup Mag mod.

pandapaxxy (PvP / M+KB / Controller): "Better Devils has been power-crept out of viability by many recent hand cannons, you need to fully invest into range to have a competitive range stat and even then you’ll only be entering competitive ranges. Rapid Hit or Moving Target both boost consistency but good luck getting those perks. Explosive Payload or Zen Moment will either make it harder for your enemies or easier for you." What these Better Devils perks do

Reconstruction

Every 6 seconds while not firing the weapon: Loads 25% of the Magazine Capacity (rounded up) into the Magazine from reserves. Can overfill the Magazine up to double the normal capacity. Works even while stowed.

Explosive Payload

Splits off 50% of the weapon's bodyshot damage into an Explosive Payload that detonates on impact. The Payload deals 30% increased damage in PvE and staggers PvE Combatants more. On Hand Cannons, the Payload deals 7% decreased damage in PvP. The remaining Impact damage portion receives an increased Crit Multiplier to compensate for the Payload not benefitting from crits. [PvE] Total damage is increased by 15% of the weapon's bodyshot damage. For crits, the overall increase is roughly equal to 15% divided by the Crit Multiplier. [PvP] Total damage remains roughly the same but can vary by 1-2% in either direction for crits.

Hatchling

Scoring a Precision Kill or 3 kills within 3 seconds of each other spawns a Threadling at the target's location.

Frenzy

After being in Combat for 12 seconds: Grants 15% increased damage, 100 Handling, and 100 Reload Speed for 7.2 seconds. Works and can activate while stowed. Dealing and receiving damage refreshes the buff duration. For Frenzy, being in Combat is defined as having either dealt or received damage within the last 5 seconds. Self-damage and environmental damage do not count.

Rapid Hit

"Buffed Hits" grant 1 Stack of Rapid Hit for 2 seconds. Maximum of 5 Stacks. "Buffed Hits" refer to any "Yellow Number" Hits such as Precision Hits or Hits against debuffed targets. Benefits at 1|2|3|4|5 Stacks: • 2|12|14|18|25 Stability • 5|30|35|42|60 Reload Speed • 0.99x|0.96x|0.95x|0.945x|0.92x Reload Duration Multiplier

Zen Moment

Weapon Hits grant 1 Stack of the perk for 1 second up to the maximum of 5? Stacks. Benefits granted per Stack: • Grants ?% Flinch Resistance • Reduces Visual Weapon Shake by 15% • Reduces Reticle Bounce by 15% Stacks gained per Weapon Hit by weapon type: • Hand Cannons, Scout Rifles: 2? • Pulse Rifles, Sidearms: 1.5 • Other Weapons: 1

Kill Clip

Finishing a reload within 3.6 seconds of a kill grants 25% increased damage for 5 seconds. Stowing the weapon removes the buff. Does not buff the Splash/Explosive damage elements of other perks.

Moving Target

Grants the following while Aiming Down Sights (ADS): • 10 Aim Assist • 10% decreased ADS Movement Speed Penalty

Perpetual Motion

While moving at a minimum of 2 meters per second: Grants a Stack of 'Perpetual Motion' after 2 seconds and a second Stack after 10 seconds. Each Stack provides 10 Stability, 10 Handling, and 10 Reload Speed. All Stacks are removed if movement speed is below 2 m/s for 0.5 seconds. Works and can activate while stowed.

One for All

Scoring Weapon Hits against 3 Separate Enemies within 3 seconds of each grants 35% increased damage for 10 seconds. Does not require Direct Hits. Buff duration cannot be refreshed.

Alloy Magazine

Linearly grants a Reload Duration Multiplier as your magazine drops from 50% capacity to empty. Reload Duration Multiplier scales from 0.9x at 50% capacity to 0.8x with an empty magazine.

Enlightened Action

Weapon Hits grant Stacks of Enlightened Action for 2 seconds. Maximum of 12 Stacks. Stat bonuses at 1|2|…|12 Stacks: 2|7|12|15|20|25|30|35|38|40|45|50 Handling and Reload Speed Stacks granted per hit by Weapon Type: • Hand Cannons: 3 Stacks • Bows: ? Stacks • Automatic Weapons: 1 Stack

Air Trigger

Passively grants 20 Ammo Generation Stat. (Equivalent of 1 Ammo Generation Armor Mod) Being Airborne grants the following benefits: • 30 Reload Speed • 0.8x Reload Duration Multiplier • 15?% decreased Accuracy Cone Size • 20?% decreased Auto Aim Cone Size

Slice

Using your Class Ability (even while the weapon is stowed) grants you 'Slice' for 8 seconds. While 'Slice' is active, damaging non-Severed targets Severs them, grants a stack of Slice, and refreshes the buff duration. (Hitting immune targets also triggers this.) Reaching 5 stacks immediately removes the buff. If the Severing hit kills the target, the perk will not trigger and you will not gain a stack.

Adrenaline Junkie

Weapon Kills grant 1 Stack of Adrenaline Junkie for 4.5 seconds. Grenade Kills grant all 5 Stacks instantly even if the weapon is stowed. Adrenaline Junkie benefits: • 20 Handling • 6.7%|13.3%|20%|26.6%|33.3% increased damage at 1|2|3|4|5 Stacks
