pandapaxxy (PvE / M+KB / Controller): "Cataclysmic is an interesting linear fusion rifle [...] While it doesn’t directly beat out Reed’s Regret in terms of damage it possibly could. It really depends on your damage window. Firing line will do longer burst damage, but if you don’t have mag extending perks you won’t be able to keep up with Cataclysmic. Fourth time’s the charm will let you deal damage for longer if you spec your Cataclysmic the right way, and you can craft the exact roll you want.". Recommended MW - Reload or Charge Time.

Constructed by @Adamsdown_Boy (PvE PvE-Boss PvE-SustainedDamage PvE-EndGame PvP-God M+KB Controller): First-choice PvE roll for sustained DPS against a single yellow-bar target in activities rated Normal, Hard or Very Hard difficulty, particularly on Prismatic builds. Cataclysmic is a precision linear fusion rifle, which are rated B-Tier for endgame PvE by @TheAegisRelic tiering spreadsheet https://linktr.ee/TheAegisRelic for "total damage standout, notable for solo due to less reliance on reload/Div vs. A499 and Particle access". The frame intrinsic offers built in Anti-Barrier, and a ×0.9 reduction in horizontal recoil as per the https://www.destiny2.science/ Destiny Data Compendium. The stats are good by comparison with its peers - you can see them at https://destiny.report/w/2886339027/cataclysmic and hopefully https://d2foundry.gg/w/2886339027 will show how weapon stats impact in-game performance when the site is back up and running. With precision frames, you need to worry less about recoil control so look to improve Handling or maybe Stability. As the battery perk, Accelerated Coils improves charge time by 40ms at the cost of ×0.98 base damage, or Ionized Battery in the battery perk slot gets you the maximum of 7 shots. For sustained boss damage, in the first trait perk column, Fourth Time's the Charm generates 2 shots from thin air after 4 crits within 2s (3s when enhanced) of each other - that's 10 shots from a battery of 6, or 11 from a battery of 7, with 4 of them free. In the second column, for damage on a Prismatic build, Elemental Honing grants an escalating stack of damage up to an max ×1.35 for 20s (23s when enhanced) for each elemental damage type inflicted, which can be refreshed with a new damage type until you've run through all 5, or or Aggregate Charge provides a stack for each different elemental debuff up to ×3 stacks to boost damage by a max ×1.3 (×1.33 when enhanced), with each stack lasting as long as the debuff is active. The Souldrinker origin trait restores up to +50HP on reload, depending on the proportion of the magazine landed as hits. If you're interested, community consensus is that the Vow of the Disciple raid's weapon shapes such as "Fatal", referenced in the flavour text, represent stages in the Witness's and Rhulk's philosophy regarding the universe. Recommended MW: Charge Time, with a Charge Time mod or your preferred choice to boost weapon stats, ammo generation, or elemental pickups for builds.|tags:PvE PvE-Boss PvE-SustainedDamage PvE-EndGame PvP-God M+KB Controller

Inspired by DMB Player Versus Enemies Podcast 8. Shapeable through the Mars Relic. PvE first choice roll for burst boss DPS. High-Impact Reserves procs after three shots (two with the Enhanced perk), and Fourth Time's the Charm then gives you seven more crits with an increasing damage buff that tops out at 25.4%. Useful with Divinity in the fireteam, to make sure crits are easier to land. Recommended MW: Stability, with a damage-boosting (Adept Big Ones or Taken Spec) mod.

Adamsdown_Boy - information as at v8.0.0.6 PvE / PvE-Boss / PvE-BossSpec / PvE-EndGame / PvE-God / M+KB / Controller): PvE pick for killing boss-tier Subjugators. As per @mossy_max (https://x.com/mossy_max/status/1804893174965338387) - boss-tier Subjugators have a 20% damage reduction to all non-matching damage, going up to 30% DR to all damage after they "screech", which counts as a shield in-game and reacts to shield-based trait perks. If you've been collecting red-box weapons from Vow of the Disciple, then you'll be able to shape this to your liking. Arrowhead Brake to help with recoil (if you just drop one, Chambered Compensator or Polygonal Rifling will also to help land consistent crits). Then Enhanced Battery with a Backup Mag mod gets you to 7 shots (same as Ionized Battery with Backup Mag), or alternatively Accelerated Coils for better burst damage or Particle Repeater for more stability. In the first trait column, Fourth Time's the Charm will extend your mag up to 10 shots when you hit crits. In the second, Adaptive Munitions provides a +30% (+56% when enhanced) damage boost after 3 hits. The Souldrinker origin trait is useful for recovering health after reloading. Recommended MW: Charge Time, with a Backup Mag mod

pandapaxxy (PvP / M+KB / Controller): "For PvP linear fusions can be hit or miss (zing), they require either set up for OHK, or to lower the charge time to treat it more like a sniper. Cataclysm can get the latter to a very strong degree. Accelerated coils, charge time MW, and successful warm up will net you such a fast charge time. And with linear fusion rifles being one shot kills to the head you can have a linear that is basically a sniper rifle after that first kill. You know what? Just use a sniper rifle.".
