SpaceMonkey (PvP): "Grip instead of origin trait hurts in PvE, but this gun is so unique and so cool that it's worth it even without one. The main reason that this gun isn't DOA for PvE is because bungie actually custom tuned the damage scalars for red bars and elites to be higher than the rest of the SMG family, so it actually winds up being one of the strongest weapons for the season. The obvious and most direct comparison is to THE Multimach roll - Attrition Orbs & Kinetic Tremors. While Multimach procs both effects faster, Peculiar Charm simply does more damage. In a vacuum I'd probably still take Multimach, but with the New Gear bonus active the draw of Peculiar Charm is too strong this season. PvP is a different story but a similar ending. This is actually pretty good there, having crazy range for an SMG and being pretty forgiving. Fitted Stock seems to be super important, along with as much range stat as possible." Recommended MW: Range, Handling.

Inspired by https://www.youtube.com/@cammycakesgaming (PvP PvP-KillChain M+KB Controller): Good PvP for duelling. Peculiar Charm is the first of a new Aggressive Burst SMG subfamily that shoots four rounds before a short pause - early days, but could be very competitive in PvP, particularly if you're used to Antiope or Shayura's Wrath. The only downside is that the pause makes it difficult to use against snipers, who might well be able to shoot through the flinch. There's no data yet at the @hugowo_ spreadsheet at https://www.destiny2.science/, but Cammy's testing looks like it's a similar TTK to precision SMGs ~0.8s (8c 1b). The stats aren't really comparable with any existing weapons, but notable are the magazine size of 56 at base, and the range - a max range roll reaches out to ~26m, before damage falloff compared to Shayura's ~23.5m. You can see the in-game effect of stat changes at https://d2foundry.gg/w/3620277039 for yourself. For the barrel and magazine perks, push out the range, even at the cost of a little handling - if you're using Peacekeepers, Dragon's Shadow or St0mp-EE5, you'll still be covered, and Fitted Stock can straighten out Recoil Direction to a perfect 100 and recover any lost stability. For duelling, in the first trait perk column Rangefinder pushes out the damage drop-off and aim assist, Lone Wolf and Rapid Hit both improve gunfeel, and Shoot to Loot picks up remote ammo bricks or orbs from safety, which reloads all your weapons from reserves. In the second column, Headseeker provides additional consistency with highly mobile playstyles, or Kinetic Tremors is triggered after 14 hits for additional target and AoE damage. Recommended MW: Range, with a Range mod/enhanced mod, or your choice depending on your play style.|tags:PvP PvP-KillChain M+KB Controller

In the magazine, Extended Barrel or Steady Rounds both boost Aerial Effectiveness. For aerial duelling, in the first trait perk column Lone Wolf passively boosts Aim Assist by +5, +15 Airborne Effectiveness and ×0.9 ADS speed (+6, +16 and ×0.85 when enhanced), with those values doubled when there's no ally within 15m. SpaceMonkey (PvE / God-PvE): "Grip instead of origin trait hurts in PvE, but this gun is so unique and so cool that it's worth it even without one. Fitted Stock seems to be super important, along with as much range stat as possible." Recommended MW: Reload.

What these Peculiar Charm perks do

Attrition Orbs

Scoring multiple Hits against enemies within 5 seconds of each spawns an Orb of Power that grants 0.8% Super Energy. Does not require Direct Hits. Hit counter persists through stow. Hit requirements for activation: • Rocket Launchers: 2 hits • Heavy Grenade Launchers: 3 Hits • Wave-Frame Grenade Launchers: 4 hits • Bows: 4 Hits • Swords: 5 Hits • Area-Denial Grenade Launchers: 26 Hits • Others: 55% of Magazine Size rounded down + 1 Support Frame Auto Rifle healing round Hits on damaged allies count as 2 Hits.

Kinetic Tremors

Scoring multiple Direct Hits against a target within 3 seconds of each emits 3 damaging shockwaves from its location at the time of activation. Hit counter persists through stow. Shockwaves appear 0.25 seconds after scoring enough Hits and have a 1 second delay between each pulse. With Bows, the initial delay is decreased to 0.167 seconds. Each shockwave deals up to 90 [20] damage in a 6 meter radius. Shockwaves deal 33.33% more damage when activated on Miniboss or higher tier PvE Combatants. Shockwaves inherit Weapon Damage Buffs, the weapon's passive Kinetic Damage Bonus in PVE (10% on Primary, 15% on Special), and its Combatant Damage Scaling. They also count as non-direct Hits with the weapon for other interactions. The perk cannot be retriggered by anyone on a target until 2? seconds after the last shockwave. Hits required for Activation: • Submachine Guns: 14 • Auto Rifles: 12 • Pulse Rifles: 11 • Sidearms: 8 • Precision Hand Cannons and Precision Scout Rifles: 6 • Hand Cannons, Scout Rifles: 5 • Bows, Sniper Rifles: 3

Shoot to Loot

Weapon Hits against Orbs of Power collect them. If collecting ammo is possible: Weapon Hits against Ammo Bricks pick them up, trigger Ammo Pickup Effects, and refill all Weapons from reserves. Does not require direct hits.

Rangefinder

Aiming Down Sights grants the following benefits: • 10 Range • 10% increased Effective Zoom • 5% increased Projectile Speed The Effective Zoom increase pushes out Aim Assist Falloff by 10%, reduces (Absolute) Recoil by 10% and narrows the Accuracy and Aim Assist Cones by the same amount. (This is the normal behavior of Zoom and isn't unique to Rangefinder)

Master of Arms

Scoring a Kill with any weapon grants Master of Arms x1, granting 15% increased damage for 7 seconds. Scoring a Kill with any weapon with Master of Arms active grants Master of Arms x2, granting 25% increased damage for 4 seconds. Master of Arms x2 expiring reverts the buff back to Master of Arms x1.

Headseeker

Dealing non-Precision Direct damage grants the following benefits for 0.55 seconds: • 20% increased Precision Bonus (complicated, see specific damage increases below) • 3% increased Aim Assist Cone size Precision damage increases by weapon type/frame: • Pulse Rifles: Adaptive: 7.1%, Aggressive Burst: 10%, Heavy Burst: 9.5%, High-Impact: 8.74%, Lightweight: 6.3%, Rapid-Fire: 10.3% • Sidearms: Adaptive Burst: 8.46%, Heavy Burst: 7.36% • Scout Rifles: Precision: 8.66% [Bug] Heavy Burst Hand Cannons: 7% increased Weakspot damage. The distinction between Weakspots and Critspots is complicated and we might write an explainer blog post about it eventually. For the purposes of PvP, the two are equivalent.

Desperado

Finishing a reload 5.2 seconds after a Precision Kill or 3 kills within ? seconds of each reduces Firing Delay by 30% for 6 seconds. Buff is removed on stow.

Lone Wolf

Passively grants 5 Aim Assist, 15 Airborne Effectiveness, and a 10% decreased ADS Animation Duration. While no allies are within 15 meters: Bonuses are increased to 10 Aim Assist, 30 Airborne Effectiveness, and a 20% decreased ADS Animation Duration.

Rapid Hit

"Buffed Hits" grant 1 Stack of Rapid Hit for 2 seconds. Maximum of 5 Stacks. "Buffed Hits" refer to any "Yellow Number" Hits such as Precision Hits or Hits against debuffed targets. Benefits at 1|2|3|4|5 Stacks: • 2|12|14|18|25 Stability • 5|30|35|42|60 Reload Speed • 0.99x|0.96x|0.95x|0.945x|0.92x Reload Duration Multiplier
