pandapaxxy (PvE / M+KB / Controller): Recommended MW: Reload. Aggressive(750) Strand Submachine Gun Primary Ammo. "Everyone’s favorite submachine gun. Immortal dropped and it dropped hot. Is it the best submachine gun since Recluse? I don’t think so. Is it the best weapon in the sandbox? Also not true. Is Immortal incredibly strong? Very much so. In PvE there’s a lot less to write home about due to the lack of a dedicated reloader perk but any of the pseudo-reload perks will do fine."

Inspired by @PodvsEnemies Podcast vs Enemies episode 68 (https://open.spotify.com/episode/7e93LMhFDUbZZX5SKYzXf0?si=cec8c26785114ffb) with @Saint_Kabr, @CourtProjects and @ImpetusAlways. First-choice PvE pick for add-clear in end-game activities, particularly with a Strand subclass. While you've probably been melted a few times in PvP with The Immortal, it's still interesting in PvE as the first aggressive frame Strand SMG (the same subfamily as Ikelos). It's an absolute stat monster and the support perks can make it even more so, so we'll start with a range-boosting barrel, and any of the "Rounds" magazines. In the first trait column for the support perk, Threat Detector, Surplus (particularly easy to maintain with the extra melee charges from Strand), or Perpetual Motion will bump gunfeel stats up. If you're running solo content, don't forget the Alacrity origin trait to pretty much max out every stat on the board, and add 10 Aim Assist too. In the second column, Hatchling is the natural choice to pair with a Strand subclass to generate Threadlings for add control. Recommended MW: Range, with a damage-boosting (Minor or Taken Spec) or Backup Mag mod.|tags: PvE, PvE-MinorSpec, PvE-God, PvE-EndGame, Controller, M+KB

pandapaxxy (PvP / Controller): Recommended MW: Range. Aggressive(750) Strand Submachine Gun Primary Ammo. "Immortal is running the crucible and it is not hard to see why. A great submachine gun with some of the best stats for its family, Rangefinder in column three and Target Lock for an even faster TtK neutrally is hot. There’s nothing bad to say about Immortal other than a foreseeable nerf. Either to its stats, all aggressive frame submachine guns or a targeted nerf. An alternative would be Kill Clip as a more reliable damage source but we will just have to see what the end of this season brings."

What these The Immortal (Adept) perks do

Hatchling

Scoring a Precision Kill or 3 kills within 3 seconds of each other spawns a Threadling at the target's location.

Perpetual Motion

While moving at a minimum of 2 meters per second: Grants a Stack of 'Perpetual Motion' after 2 seconds and a second Stack after 10 seconds. Each Stack provides 10 Stability, 10 Handling, and 10 Reload Speed. All Stacks are removed if movement speed is below 2 m/s for 0.5 seconds. Works and can activate while stowed.

High-Caliber Rounds

Hits inflict increased Flinch on Enemies. PVE: Tier 1-2 Minors can be repeatedly staggered. Higher Tier Combatants stagger quicker. PVP: Flinch against Players varies based on damage and Weapon Archetype. Flinch increase ranges between 5-10%.

Armor-Piercing Rounds

Grants 5% increased damage against Elemental and Barrier Champion Shields. Allows bullets to overpenetrate enemies once.

Threat Detector

Grants 1|2 Stacks while within 15 meters of 1|2+ enemies. Bonuses at 1|2 Stacks: • 15|40 Stability • 18|60 Reload Speed • 25|100 Handling • 0.9x|0.81x Handling Animation Duration Multiplier

Surplus

Grants Stat Bonuses depending on the number of Charged Abilities. Stat Bonuses with 1|2|3+ Charged Abilities: • 5|15|25 Stability • 5|25|60 Handling • 10|25|60 Reload Speed

Target Lock

Successive Hits within 0.2 seconds of each grant a ramping Damage Buff after scoring 12.5% of the Magazine Capacity as hits. Missing deactivates the buff. Stacks displayed on-screen are only visual aides, the buff ramps up with each shot once active. Reaches maximum strength at 5 Stacks. % of the Magazine Capacity as Hits required for each Visual Stack: 12.5%|35.5%|54.5%|74.5%|110.33% Damage Buff ramps up from 16.73% [10.46%] to 40% [25%] upon reaching maximum strength. Assuming no missed shots, it provides roughly a 25% [15.85%] Damage Buff on average after firing 100% of the Magazine Capacity.

Fourth Time's the Charm

Scoring 4 Precision Hits within 2 seconds of each refills 2 Ammo into the Magazine from thin air. Cannot load the Magazine beyond its base capacity. Precision Hit counter persists through stow.

Golden Tricorn

While the perk's buff isn't active, Weapon Kills grant 'Golden Tricorn x1' for 7 seconds, increasing weapon damage by 15%. Additional Kills refresh the buff duration. While Golden Tricorn x1 or x2 is active: Grenade or Elemental Melee Kills matching the element of the Weapon grant Golden Tricorn x2 for 10 seconds, increasing weapon damage by 50%. Clarity tooltip editor's note: We're replacing the previous Powered Melee term with Elemental Melee. The former is now exclusively used for perks that require the consumption of a Melee Ability Charge. This note is temporary and will be removed in the future.

Subsistence

Weapon Kills refill 10% of the magazine (rounded up) from reserves. Submachine Gun and Auto Rifle Kills refill 17% of the magazine.

Swashbuckler

Weapon Kills grant a Stack of 'Swashbuckler' for 4.5 seconds. Maximum of 5 Stacks. (Glaive) Melee Kills grant all 5 Stacks instantly. Damage increase at 1|2|3|4|5 Stacks: 6.7% | 13.3% | 20% | 26.6% | 33.3% Stowing the weapon removes the buff.

Adrenaline Junkie

Weapon Kills grant 1 Stack of Adrenaline Junkie for 4.5 seconds. Grenade Kills grant all 5 Stacks instantly even if the weapon is stowed. Adrenaline Junkie benefits: • 20 Handling • 6.7%|13.3%|20%|26.6%|33.3% increased damage at 1|2|3|4|5 Stacks

Opening Shot

Grants the following benefits for your first shot (of the burst): • 20 Aim Assist and 25 Range • 5% decreased Accuracy Cone Size • 10% decreased Accuracy Cone Growth Special weapons only receive 50% of the benefits. Stats are rounded up. Firing the weapon prevents the perk from activating for 3 seconds.

Demolitionist

Weapon Kills grant 10% Grenade Ability Energy. Kills with Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, Glaives, and Fusion Rifles grant 20%. Using your Grenade Ability refills the Magazine with a 3 second cooldown. Ability energy gained may be significantly decreased based on your selected ability's Chunk Energy Scalar. Learn more about this mechanic in our explainer blog post on the Clarity website.
