pandapaxxy (PvE / M+KB / Controller): "Recluse has not only been power crept from its former self with things like Funnelweb, IKELOS_SMG_v1.0.3, CALUS Mini-Tool, and even The Title from the recent Guardian Games. Did we know The Recluse was coming back to take its throne? Not at the time. But we can say for certain it's here to stay. Subsistence, Enlightened Action, or Feeding Frenzy are all great perks to maximize the reload or bypass having to reload one way or another. Repulsor Brace is incredible with Void subclasses, but you don't need to be on Void to take advantage of this SMG. Desperate Measures can work on any subclass and has great synergy with any of the reload perks. Obviously a damage + reload combo will be good but having something that doesn't necessarily lean into any of the subclass verbs can make it easier to translate across builds and activities. Would you be better with a more subclass focused roll? Highly depends on your build." Recommended MW: Stability.

First-choice PvE pick for add-clearing Minor Spec enemies in general content. If you find a roll you like, keep for the ability to enhance perks when Final Shape arrives. The Recluse is back and with even better range than the original. As a lightweight frame, you'll get the +20 mobility and +6.25% speed bonus to start. Add in a little extra stability in the barrel perk for easier control, and your preference of combat effect mag perk. Use the first trait perk to help with reloads, like Threat Detector, Enlightened Action or Feeding Frenzy, and then look for second column damage perks such as Surrounded (which will be enhanceable in Final Shape for +47% damage), or Desperate Measures for up to +30% damage. The Indomitability origin trait seems built for the Prismatic subclass, generating grenade of melle energy according to your subclass type. Recommended MW: Handling or Stability, with a damage boosting (Minor or Taken Spec) mod.|tags: PvE, PvE-MinorSpec, PvE-God, M+KB, Controller

pandapaxxy (PvP / M+KB / Controller): "Recluse’s defining trait, Master of Arms, being brought down to a 15% damage buff makes it more manageable as a weapon and less dominant in PvE and PvP. Instead you could opt for consistency perks like Dynamic Sway Reduction, or Tap the Trigger. Threat Detector and Hip-Fire Grip are both excellent but have more limiting use cases; distance and non-ADS respectively. Desperate Measures is a better lethality perk as it can activate while stowed, so once you get a grenade or melee kill it lets you relive the 20% damage bonus of pre-nerf Master of Arms." Recommended MW: Range.

Scoring another Grenade or Melee Kill with DMx2 active increases this to 30% (DMx3). Can be activated while stowed. Weapon, Grenade, and Melee Kills refresh the buff duration.

Repulsor Brace

Kills against Void Debuffed enemies grant a 45 HP Void Overshield for 8 seconds (12 with Echo of Persistence).

Destabilizing Rounds

Weapon Kills apply Volatile to enemies in a 7 meter radius around the target and grant Volatile Rounds for 3 seconds. 1.5 second cooldown between activations.

Frenzy

After being in Combat for 12 seconds: Grants 15% increased damage, 100 Handling, and 100 Reload Speed for 7.2 seconds. Works and can activate while stowed. Dealing and receiving damage refreshes the buff duration. For Frenzy, being in Combat is defined as having either dealt or received damage within the last 5 seconds. Self-damage and environmental damage do not count.

Subsistence

Weapon Kills refill 10% of the magazine (rounded up) from reserves. Submachine Gun and Auto Rifle Kills refill 17% of the magazine.

Master of Arms

Scoring a Kill with any weapon grants Master of Arms x1, granting 15% increased damage for 7 seconds. Scoring a Kill with any weapon with Master of Arms active grants Master of Arms x2, granting 25% increased damage for 4 seconds. Master of Arms x2 expiring reverts the buff back to Master of Arms x1.

Dynamic Sway Reduction

Each shot while holding down the trigger grants the following benefits: • 1 Stability • ?% decreased Accuracy Cone Size • 10% decreased Accuracy Cone Growth Reaches maximum strength after 10 shots, granting 10 Stability, ?% decreased Accuracy Cone Size, and 100% decreased Accuracy Cone Growth.

Tap the Trigger

Firing grants 'Tap The Trigger' for 0.6 seconds, providing the following benefits: • 40 Stability • 50% decreased Recoil • 10% decreased Accuracy Cone Size Fusion Rifles only receive 25% of the benefits. Buff cannot be refreshed until Automatic Weapons stop firing, or until the next burst. [Controller-Only] Weapon fires the instant trigger pressure is applied.

Hip-Fire Grip

Grants the following benefits while hipfiring: • 25 Stability and 15 Aim Assist • 2.7° larger Precision Aim Cone Angle • 30% decreased Accuracy Cone Size • 20% increased Aim Assist Falloff Distance • 20% increased Damage Falloff Distance The Damage Falloff increase does not apply to The Last Word, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, and Fusion Rifles. PvP-specific note: the Precision Aim Cone Angle increase essentially just allows you to hit Crits while aimed above or slightly to the side of the head. (This is already the default behavior of Submachine Guns, Sidearms, Bows, Machine Guns, and Linear Fusion Rifles so it does not affect them)
