Inspired by @PodvsEnemies episode 149 from 12 August 2025 (https://open.spotify.com/episode/2bhcY40IAVpSlQ0iaW50v0?si=5e88adac224e4ae9) with @ImpetusAlways and @CourtProjects (PvE PvE-MinorSpec PvE-God PvE-EndGame M+KB Controller): First-choice PvE roll for clearing groups of minor adds both general at-level or better, and end-game underleveled content, particularly for solar builds. At the time of writing, Yeartime Apex is one of the best solar SMGs that offers the usual Lightweight frame advantages of +20 to the hidden Mobility stat and ×1.0625 base movement speed. At base, by comparison with its peers, the stats are decent - d2foundry.gg calculates that 29 Range equates to 12.19m hipfire and 17.06m when ADS before damage dropoff, 40 Stability ×1.0625 flinch resistance, 64 Handling is 0.32s ready, 0.24s ADS and 0.29s stow speed, and 27 Reload Speed is a 2.16s reload. Ammo Generation is 69, Recoil Direction is 100 and Zoom is 14. On M+KB, you can choose to boost Handling and maybe a little Range, although on controller you might want to invest the barrel perk into Stability. The combat effect magazine perks are all good, or look to boost reload speed. For solar builds, in the first trait perk column Heal Clip provides Cure ×2 (that's 120HP) to you and Cure ×1 for allies within 15m on reload within 5.3s after a kill. Alternatively, Demolitionist is always helpful to generate +10% (+11% when enhanced) grenade energy, modified by your grenade stat, on enemy kills, or Attrition Orbs can also be useful, generating a small power orb after 29 hits at base magazine size. In the second column, for solar builds, Incandescent is great for crowd control spreading +30 Scorch stacks - +45 stacks with Ember of Ashes - to adds within 4m on a Minor add kill (+45 stacks within 8m for Elites or higher, +67.5 with Ember of Ashes). The Dreamwork Origin Trait is decent in PvE when you're in a fireteam, by boosting reload speed for a few seconds and also refilling, and potentially overflowing, 66% of the mag from reserves when killing enemies while teamshooting. Recommended MW: Handling or Stability, with your preferred choice of mod/enhanced mod to boost weapon stats, ammo regeneration, or elemental pickups for builds - and don't forget to check any available seasonal fragile mods.|tags:PvE PvE-MinorSpec PvE-God PvE-EndGame M+KB Controller

In the second column, for solar builds, Burning Ambition can be useful in endgame content but does need building into, to inflict scorch on a target with an ability (hence why Demolitionist is a good match), and then maximise stacks building to ignition with Ember of Ashes. The Dreamwork Origin Trait is decent in PvE when you're in a fireteam, by boosting reload speed for a few seconds and also refilling, and potentially overflowing, 66% of the mag from reserves when killing enemies while teamshooting. Pair that with Chaos Reshaped in the second column for ×1.15 damage at 1 stack, and ×1.35 damage at two stacks and a 35HP healing burst every 7s to both slay out and stay alive in CQC. This is possibly the perfect weapon to use with the Solstice Lustrous armour for the Cauterize ×4 set bonus for even more healing - another 35HP for three rapid solar kills within 3s of each other. The Dreamwork Origin Trait is decent in PvE when you're in a fireteam, by boosting reload speed for a few seconds and also refilling, and potentially overflowing, 66% of the mag from reserves when killing enemies while teamshooting. What these Yeartide Apex perks do

High-Caliber Rounds

Hits inflict increased Flinch on Enemies. PVE: Tier 1-2 Minors can be repeatedly staggered. Higher Tier Combatants stagger quicker. PVP: Flinch against Players varies based on damage and Weapon Archetype. Flinch increase ranges between 5-10%.

Burning Ambition

Direct Hits against Scorched Enemies apply additional Scorch on a 0.5 second cooldown: • Primary Weapons apply 10 [4] additional Scorch per Direct Hit (15 [9?] with Ember of Ashes) • Special and Power Weapons apply 20 additional Scorch (30 with Ember of Ashes) Scoring multiple Direct Hits within 3? seconds of each causes the next Direct Hit to Scorch the target. Hit counter persists through stow. Number of Direct Hits required by weapon type: • Bows: 2 • Swords: 3 • Other Weapons: 55% of the base magazine size Scorch applied by Burning Ambition to Unscorched targets counts as Weapon Damage. Ember of Ashes increases the amount of Scorch applied by 50%.

Demolitionist

Weapon Kills grant 10% Grenade Ability Energy. Kills with Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, Glaives, and Fusion Rifles grant 20%. Using your Grenade Ability refills the Magazine with a 3 second cooldown. Ability energy gained may be significantly decreased based on your selected ability's Chunk Energy Scalar. Learn more about this mechanic in our explainer blog post on the Clarity website.

Attrition Orbs

Scoring multiple Hits against enemies within 5 seconds of each spawns an Orb of Power that grants 0.8% Super Energy. Does not require Direct Hits. Hit counter persists through stow. Hit requirements for activation: • Rocket Launchers: 2 hits • Heavy Grenade Launchers: 3 Hits • Wave-Frame Grenade Launchers: 4 hits • Bows: 4 Hits • Swords: 5 Hits • Area-Denial Grenade Launchers: 26 Hits • Others: 55% of Magazine Size rounded down + 1 Support Frame Auto Rifle healing round Hits on damaged allies count as 2 Hits.

Armor-Piercing Rounds

Grants 5% increased damage against Elemental and Barrier Champion Shields. Allows bullets to overpenetrate enemies once.

Alloy Magazine

Linearly grants a Reload Duration Multiplier as your magazine drops from 50% capacity to empty. Reload Duration Multiplier scales from 0.9x at 50% capacity to 0.8x with an empty magazine.

Heal Clip

Finishing a reload within 5.3? seconds of a Kill grants Cure x2 to you and Cure x1 to allies within 15 meters.

Incandescent

Weapon Kills trigger a Solar explosion that applies 30 Scorch Stacks (40 with Ember of Ashes) and deals up to 30 damage to enemies within 4 meters of the target. Killing Elite or higher tier Combatants and Players increases the radius to 8 meters and applies 10 more Scorch Stacks. Scorch damage can be increased through Weapon Damage Buffs.

Chaos Reshaped

Being in Combat for 12 seconds grants a Stack of 'Chaos Reshaped' for 7 seconds. Maintaining the first Stack for 12 seconds grants a second Stack. Buff can be activated while stowed. For Chaos Reshaped, being in Combat is defined as having either dealt or received damage within the last 5 seconds. Benefits at Chaos Reshaped x1 and x2: • x1: grants 20% increased damage • x2: grants 35% increased damage and grants a periodic burst of healing Healing effect is bugged! While Chaos Reshaped x2 is active: Stowing the weapon or keeping it readied for 7 seconds grants a continous healing effect of 5 HP per second. Stowing this weapon grants the effect for 1 to 7 seconds (cycling, it's complicated), while keeping it readied after activation makes the healing effectively constant. While this healing effect is active, NO OTHER SOURCE OF HEALING CAN RESTORE THE FINAL [~35 to 5] HP OF YOUR HEALTH BAR! This unrecoverable HP segment can only be healed by Chaos Reshaped's 5/HPs effect. For more details, visit the perk description in the Destiny Data Compendium.
