pandapaxxy (PvE / M+KB / Controller): "Yesterday's Question is Tomorrow's Answer. Am I going to repeat that with our next weapon? You bet your butt! This hand cannon is interesting with Dragonfly in the third column allowing for boosted damage into Desperate Measures or more chaining with Voltshot. You can have the energy equivalent of Warden's Law with Fourth Time's the Charm and Vorpal Weapon even with the reduced efficiency on Lucky Pants builds." Recommended MW: Reload Speed.

pandapaxxy (PvP / Controller): "Heavy Burst hand cannons haven't been the strongest in PvP and with recent buffs they still feel like they're missing something. A push too far in one direction or another could make them instantly top hand cannons or completely irrelevant, I don't know what Bungie wishes to do. What felt best to me was a combination of Rapid Hit and Zen Moment, when I hit crits the gun felt so smooth." Recommended MW: Range or Stability.

Adamsdown_Boy written v8.1.5.1 (PvE PvE-MinorSpec PvE-MajorSpec PvE-EndGame PvE-God M+KB Controller): PvE pick use against bulky Minor and Major enemies in general, and end-game underleveled content. Yesterday's Questions has a lot of caveats for PvE - it's a Trials of Osiris reward so not very accessible, the rolls are mainly PvP focussed, and it doesn't really offer anything new if you already have a Voltshot hand cannon. At base the stats are good - 63 Range equates to 32.51m when ADS and 21.67m hipfire, 34 Handling is 0.38s ready, 0.28s ADS and 0.41s stow speed, while the Reload Speed of 31 is a 2.92s reload. It feels a lot better with help for Handling in the barrel perk. Voltshot relies on reload speed to proc and use, so Flared Magwell provides the biggest boost, or Light Mag slightly less. There's only one trait perk that helps with reload, and that's Rapid Hit. With luck and a following wind, reload speed could be as low as 1.70s so Voltshot doesn't run out to time to be procced. If you run the Synergy mod to general Ionic Traces to become amplified, that'll also help with reloads too. Either origin trait can work - Alacrity if you're running a solo activity to boost all your gunfeel stats, or One Quiet Moment for faster reloads when out of combat. Recommended MW: Reload Speed with a Backup Mag mod or, when enhanced, a Synergy mod to generate Ionic traces or Stunloader when an artifact mod's around.|tags:PvE PvE-MinorSpec PvE-MajorSpec PvE-EndGame PvE-God M+KB Controller

What these Yesterday's Question perks do

Rapid Hit

"Buffed Hits" grant 1 Stack of Rapid Hit for 2 seconds. Maximum of 5 Stacks. "Buffed Hits" refer to any "Yellow Number" Hits such as Precision Hits or Hits against debuffed targets. Benefits at 1|2|3|4|5 Stacks: • 2|12|14|18|25 Stability • 5|30|35|42|60 Reload Speed • 0.99x|0.96x|0.95x|0.945x|0.92x Reload Duration Multiplier

Voltshot

Finishing a reload within 5.3 seconds of a Weapon Kill grants Voltshot for 7 seconds. While Voltshot is active, your next Weapon Hit consumes the buff and applies Jolt to the target. Applied Jolt's damage (generally) does not count as Weapon Damage.

Fourth Time's the Charm

Scoring 4 Precision Hits within 2 seconds of each refills 2 Ammo into the Magazine from thin air. Cannot load the Magazine beyond its base capacity. Precision Hit counter persists through stow.

Desperate Measures

Weapon Kills grant 'Desperate Measures x1' (DMx1), increasing damage by 10% for 7 seconds. Grenade or Melee Kills grant 20% increased damage for 7 seconds (DMx2). Scoring another Grenade or Melee Kill with DMx2 active increases this to 30% (DMx3). Can be activated while stowed. Weapon, Grenade, and Melee Kills refresh the buff duration.

Vorpal Weapon

Deals increased damage against Minibosses, Bosses, and Vehicles, as well as Players in their Super Ability. Damage increase by Ammo Type: • Primary Weapons: 20% [60%] • Special Weapons: 15% [20%] • Power Weapons: 10% [20%]

Dragonfly

Precision Kills cause targets to explode, dealing up to 123.89 [95.3] weapon-matching elemental damage in a 4.5-meter radius.

Armor-Piercing Rounds

Grants 5% increased damage against Elemental and Barrier Champion Shields. Allows bullets to overpenetrate enemies once.

Zen Moment

Weapon Hits grant 1 Stack of the perk for 1 second up to the maximum of 5? Stacks. Benefits granted per Stack: • Grants ?% Flinch Resistance • Reduces Visual Weapon Shake by 15% • Reduces Reticle Bounce by 15% Stacks gained per Weapon Hit by weapon type: • Hand Cannons, Scout Rifles: 2? • Pulse Rifles, Sidearms: 1.5 • Other Weapons: 1

Eye of the Storm

Grants a scaling buff to Handling and Accuracy as your Shield Health drops below 40 and reaches maximum strength at 0 Shield HP. Buff at maximum strength grants: • 30 Handling • 40% decreased Accuracy Cone Size • 17% decreased Accuracy Cone Growth The buff linearly scales from 0% at 80 Shield HP to 100% at 0 Shield HP (Critical Health). It initially triggers as you drop to 40 Shield HP — giving you 50% of the maximum buff. However, as you regenerate your Shield Health, the buff will still remain until you reach 80 Shield HP where the benefits scale down to zero.

Headseeker

Dealing non-Precision Direct damage grants the following benefits for 0.55 seconds: • 20% increased Precision Bonus (complicated, see specific damage increases below) • 3% increased Aim Assist Cone size Precision damage increases by weapon type/frame: • Pulse Rifles: Adaptive: 7.1%, Aggressive Burst: 10%, Heavy Burst: 9.5%, High-Impact: 8.74%, Lightweight: 6.3%, Rapid-Fire: 10.3% • Sidearms: Adaptive Burst: 8.46%, Heavy Burst: 7.36% • Scout Rifles: Precision: 8.66% [Bug] Heavy Burst Hand Cannons: 7% increased Weakspot damage. The distinction between Weakspots and Critspots is complicated and we might write an explainer blog post about it eventually. For the purposes of PvP, the two are equivalent.

To the Pain

Every 30 points of damage taken with the weapon readied grants a Stack of 'To the Pain'. Maximum of 10 Stacks. Stowing the weapon removes all Stacks. Each Stack grants ? Handling and 2 Aim Assist, maxing out at ? Handling and 20 Aim Assist. Self-damage and environmental damage do not count.

Lone Wolf

Passively grants 5 Aim Assist, 15 Airborne Effectiveness, and a 10% decreased ADS Animation Duration. While no allies are within 15 meters: Bonuses are increased to 10 Aim Assist, 30 Airborne Effectiveness, and a 20% decreased ADS Animation Duration.

High-Caliber Rounds

Hits inflict increased Flinch on Enemies. PVE: Tier 1-2 Minors can be repeatedly staggered. Higher Tier Combatants stagger quicker. PVP: Flinch against Players varies based on damage and Weapon Archetype. Flinch increase ranges between 5-10%.
