pandapaxxy (PvE / M+KB / Controller): "Dragoncult Sickle is our last dungeon weapon. Being a strand caster frame might actually benefit the toolkit a bit more. Being able to spread Sever through Slice and Chain Reaction or spawn Threadlings from a distance makes this weapon an incredibly strong addition to an all Strand loadout. It might not be the best for boss damage or the best for add clear, but I think it will find a nice home in some Strand loadouts." Recommended MW: Impact.

Inspired by @PodvsEnemies Podcast vs Enemies episode 90 (https://open.spotify.com/episode/7C3Wx7xXVw10WshiLn5sT8?si=ZNEiHi_ZRfW5z3BbkOMrVQ) with @CourtProjects, @ImpetusAlways, and @Saint_Kabr. First-choice PvE pick for add-clear of Minor Spec enemies in end-game content. This is the first new Caster-Frame sword we've seen in some time, and the first Strand one. Dungeon weapons tend to have better stats than world drops, and Dragoncult Sickle is no exception, having pretty good overall stats - both Impact and Ammo Capacity are higher than its peers. The advantage you have with caster frames is that you can hit from range with the heavy attack, but the ammo cost as at v7.3.0.3 is still a little high. If you're using this for add-clearing, one hit will equal one kill consistently so you might as well go for increased ammo with the blade perk. Swordmaster's Guard as the Guard perk improves regeneration of the heavy attack and then either Unrelenting or Tireless Blade provides health regeneration or ammo from thin air in the first trait column, and Chain Reaction or Hatchling (particularly with Thread of Evolution) help with add clearing in the second. The origin trait is situationally useful if you're in a construct-heavy environment, like the Warlord's Ruin dungeon itself. pandapaxxy (PvP / M+KB / Controller): "Dragoncult Sickle might have some utility in PvE but PvP is not as forgiving. Assassin’s Blade allows you to run a bit faster when you get a kill, and chain reaction will allow you to get some cheeky double kills or team wipes. I like the idea of caster frames in PvP but in practice you’re better of using another sword." Recommended MW: Impact.

First-choice PvE pick for Major and Boss Spec enemies particularly for Strand subclasses in end-game content. On the other hand, you can use it for major or boss damage - the standard Jagged Edge for the extra damage and Swordmaster's Guard for the Blade and Guard perks still apply. The new-to-Season-23 Slice as the first trait perk gives this an ability to sever a major or a boss, reducing its outgoing damage by 40% for 10s (or 15s with Thread of Continuity), which can be a lifesaver in a CQC fight. In the second trait column as the signature perk, you could go for Surrounded, if you know there will be adds around to boost damage by 40%, or Whirlwind Blade if there aren't. The origin trait is situationally useful if you're in a construct-heavy environment, like the Warlord's Ruin dungeon itself. What these Dragoncult Sickle perks do

Hatchling

Scoring a Precision Kill or 3 kills within 3 seconds of each other spawns a Threadling at the target's location.

Slice

Using your Class Ability (even while the weapon is stowed) grants you 'Slice' for 8 seconds. While 'Slice' is active, damaging non-Severed targets Severs them, grants a stack of Slice, and refreshes the buff duration. (Hitting immune targets also triggers this.) Reaching 5 stacks immediately removes the buff. If the Severing hit kills the target, the perk will not trigger and you will not gain a stack.

Duelist's Trance

Sword Kills grant 60 Guard Resistance, Guard Endurance, and (Guard) Charge Rate. Buff is removed on stow.

Unrelenting

Starts Health Regeneration and restores 65 HP upon reaching 100% Activation Progress with Weapon Kills within 5 seconds of each. Activation Progress by Enemy Rank: • Minor Combatants: 34% • Players: 67% • Elites, Minibosses, and Bosses: 100%

Chain Reaction

Weapon Kills trigger an elemental explosion matching the weapon's element. Damage and radius of the explosions varies based on the weapon's ammo type: • Special Weapons: Up to 67.2 [44.8] damage in a 2.4 meter radius • Power Weapons: Up to 109.2 [72.8] damage in a 3 meter radius

Golden Tricorn

While the perk's buff isn't active, Weapon Kills grant 'Golden Tricorn x1' for 7 seconds, increasing weapon damage by 15%. Additional Kills refresh the buff duration. While Golden Tricorn x1 or x2 is active: Grenade or Elemental Melee Kills matching the element of the Weapon grant Golden Tricorn x2 for 10 seconds, increasing weapon damage by 50%. Clarity tooltip editor's note: We're replacing the previous Powered Melee term with Elemental Melee. The former is now exclusively used for perks that require the consumption of a Melee Ability Charge. This note is temporary and will be removed in the future.

Assassin's Blade

Grants the following on Weapon Kills for 5 seconds: • 15% increased damage • Maximized Movement Speed Remains active even if stowed.

Surrounded

Being within 15 meters of 3 Enemies grants 40% increased damage. Buff lingers for 1.5 seconds once the condition is no longer met. Exceptions: • Swords only receive a 35% damage increase. • Grenade and Rocket Launchers receive a 35% Explosive Damage increase and a 40% Impact Damage increase. • Wolfpack Rounds receive a 35% Explosive Damage increase.

Tireless Blade

Your first Powered Sword Kill after (re)spawning refunds 1 Ammo. Afterward, every other Powered Sword Kill also refunds 1 Ammo.
