pandapaxxy (PvP / M+KB / Controller): "Glaives in the Crucible can work but are finicky and not my preferred way of playing. Immovable Object gives you shield energy which then allows you to get better damage from Unstoppable Force. Impulse Amplifier makes these projectiles zoom without having to invest anything upfront and Close to Melee works best on unsuspecting victims." Recommended MW: Range or Shield Duration.

pandapaxxy (PvE / M+KB / Controller): "Boy do I dislike testing Glaives. Forthcoming Deviance wasn’t too bad though. Reconstruction made it pretty easy to move from encounter to encounter while keeping damage up via Chaos Reshaped. Chain Reaction is probably going to be easier to use as you don’t need anything to activate it, while Destabilizing Rounds works better when on a Void subclass." Recommended MW: Shield Duration.

Inspired by @PodvsEnemies episode 111 from 30 July 2024 (https://open.spotify.com/episode/4KO3Yr8AkPRBgKlNmacrGS?si=6dfa9e466dde41a0) with @Saint_Kabr, @ImpetusAlways and @CourtProjects (PvE / PvE-MinorSpec / PvE-EndGame / PvE-God / M+KB / Controller): First-choice PvE pick for add-clearing beefier enemies in general activities. Shapeable. Forthcoming Deviance is only the second legendary rapid-fire glaive, so there's not much to compare it against. Base stats do look very good and equate to 17.84m range before damage dropoff at a shot speed of 105.04m/s, 0.26s ready and 0.30s stow speed, shield duration of 9.73s, and 2.29s reload speed. The weakness in the frame type is shield duration, so if you want to mitigate this, Auxiliary Reserves is the best of the haft perks. Appended Mag plus a Backup Mag mod gets you to the maximum of 7 shots without any penalties. In the first trait column, this is the first glaive to offer Reconstruction, and this pairs well with Close to Melee in the second - get a refreshable 30% boost to melee damage for 10s after a projectile kill, and then let your magazine overflow while you slash your way through adds. Alternatively, Grave Robber and Replenishing Aegis both also offer ways to reload in the background. One thing worth remembering with glaives, if you're pairing them with a Desperate Measures primary or heavy weapon is that three glaive melee kills will proc all three stacks in your stowed weapon, ready for use, without using any ammo or ability energy. The Collective Purpose origin trait only works in a fireteam, but offers small boosts to range and handling, which is always useful. Recommended MW: Shield Duration, with a Backup Mag mod.

What these Forthcoming Deviance (Adept) perks do

Reconstruction

Every 6 seconds while not firing the weapon: Loads 25% of the Magazine Capacity (rounded up) into the Magazine from reserves. Can overfill the Magazine up to double the normal capacity. Works even while stowed.

Close to Melee

Glaive Projectile Kills grant 60% [30%] increased Glaive Melee damage for 10 seconds. Dealing Projectile or Melee damage extends the buff duration by 5 seconds, up to 10 seconds.

Grave Robber

Powered Melee Hits and (Glaive) Melee Kills refill the magazine from reserves. 3 second cooldown between activations.

Replenishing Aegis

Refills 1 round into the Magazine from reserves upon blocking damage. 1 second cooldown after activation. Does not work while the magazine is overfilled (assumed).

Chain Reaction

Weapon Kills trigger an elemental explosion matching the weapon's element. Damage and radius of the explosions varies based on the weapon's ammo type: • Special Weapons: Up to 67.2 [44.8] damage in a 2.4 meter radius • Power Weapons: Up to 109.2 [72.8] damage in a 3 meter radius

Chaos Reshaped

Being in Combat for 12 seconds grants a Stack of 'Chaos Reshaped' for 7 seconds. Maintaining the first Stack for 12 seconds grants a second Stack. Buff can be activated while stowed. For Chaos Reshaped, being in Combat is defined as having either dealt or received damage within the last 5 seconds. Benefits at Chaos Reshaped x1 and x2: • x1: grants 20% increased damage • x2: grants 35% increased damage and grants a periodic burst of healing Healing effect is bugged! While Chaos Reshaped x2 is active: Stowing the weapon or keeping it readied for 7 seconds grants a continous healing effect of 5 HP per second. Stowing this weapon grants the effect for 1 to 7 seconds (cycling, it's complicated), while keeping it readied after activation makes the healing effectively constant. While this healing effect is active, NO OTHER SOURCE OF HEALING CAN RESTORE THE FINAL [~35 to 5] HP OF YOUR HEALTH BAR! This unrecoverable HP segment can only be healed by Chaos Reshaped's 5/HPs effect. For more details, visit the perk description in the Destiny Data Compendium.

Destabilizing Rounds

Weapon Kills apply Volatile to enemies in a 7 meter radius around the target and grant Volatile Rounds for 3 seconds. 1.5 second cooldown between activations.

Impulse Amplifier

Passively grants 20 Reload Speed and 15% decreased Reload Animation Duration (20% for Rocket Launchers). Passively increases Projectile Velocity based on Weapon Archetype: • Rocket Launchers: 10% • Support-Frame Auto Rifles: 15% • Micro-Missile Frame Weapons: 25%

Unstoppable Force

Blocking damage with the Glaive Shield grants 20% increased projectile damage for 4 seconds. Buff is removed if you stop blocking.

Immovable Object

While blocking and stationary: Glaive Projectiles Hits grant 90% increased Weapon Energy.

Disruption Break

On Elemental, Barrier or Guardian Shield Break: Applies Kinetic Damage Vulnerability to the enemy, increasing Kinetic damage taken by 50% for 5.5 [5] seconds. Stacks with all other Buffs and Debuffs (including itself).

Swap Mag

Decreases Ready/Stow Animation Duration by 10%.
