pandapaxxy (PvE / M+KB / Controller): "We can still make Mountaintop into a formidable weapon and certainly one to chase. Ambitious Assassin allows up to two shots per magazine after a kill, if you were to pair that with Frenzy for 100 reload you could use this for back to back firing against a boss. The added 15% damage boost won't hurt either. Vorpal weapon is another flat 15% damage boost. The best bang for your shot is Recombination. This gives you a 100% damage increase for any 10 elemental weapon kills. If you ever wanted Izanagi’s Burden in the form of a grenade launcher, Recombination paired with Auto-Loading Holster will be the roll to grab." Recommended MW: Velocity.

pandapaxxy (PvP / M+KB / Controller): "Mountaintop originally didn't have much of a footing in PvP but quickly dove right into our nightmares. If you want a quick-swap roll go for Slickdraw. If you want more of a long ranged tube shotgun roll, Impulse Amplifier will make the grenade shot near instant. With the way special ammo is shaking up in the crucible through the meter or boxes, I think some of the best perks for Mountaintop are the swap perks, Harmony and Recombination. Both allow you to build up a higher damage shot to make Mountaintop one shot again, bringing it back to Recluse or another Harmony weapon to flex on all the hunters out there." First-choice PvE pick for sustained Boss Spec damage as part of a Bait and Switch weapon rotation in end-game content. If you find a roll you like, keep for the ability to enhance perks when Final Shape arrives. The Mountaintop has great stats and, even though it's now a "Micro-missile" frame, still retains the +20 Mobility and +6.25% movement speed bonuses of a lightweight. You're looking for Hard Launch ideally, but any barrel that boosts handling still works, to speed up swap speed. In the magazine park slot, Implosion Rounds gives the highest damage but Spike Grenades is so close as to make little practical difference. For the trait perks, Auto-Loading Holster just works - reloading in your pocket while you're doing dame with your heavy. To boost damage, Recombination provides a huge 100% bonus damage on your first shot when fully procced, but if you're firing eight or more shots over the course of a longer damage phase, you'll get more bonus damage from Frenzy or Vorpal Weapon. The Indomitability origin trait seems built for the Prismatic subclass, generating grenade or melee energy according to your subclass type. For the trait perks, to support a grenade build, the trait combination of Demolitionist (together with the origin trait on light subclasses) and Adrenaline Junkie is available for a very decent +33% damage boost when fully procced. The Mountaintop has great stats and, even though it's now a "Micro-missile" frame, still retains the +20 Mobility and +6.25% movement speed bonuses of a lightweight. To maximise damage, you need to minimise the Blast Radius - there's only one barrel perk that does that, so Hard Launch is the only god-roll option. In the magazine park slot, Implosion Rounds gives the highest damage but Spike Grenades is so close as to make little practical difference. What these The Mountaintop perks do

Recombination

Elemental Kills grant 1 Stack of Recombination even while the weapon is stowed. Maximum of 10 stacks. Each Stack additively increases the damage of the next shot by 10% [5%], up to 100% [50%] at 10 stacks.

Auto-Loading Holster

Refills stowed weapon from reserves after 3.5 seconds of it being stowed.

Spike Grenades

Increases Grenade Impact damage: • 12.12% increase on Special Grenade Launchers • 12.5% increase on Power Grenade Launchers Due to the ratio of Detonation and Impact damage being tied to the Blast Radius stat on Grenade Launchers, a lower stat will provide a slightly higher overall damage increase.

Frenzy

After being in Combat for 12 seconds: Grants 15% increased damage, 100 Handling, and 100 Reload Speed for 7.2 seconds. Works and can activate while stowed. Dealing and receiving damage refreshes the buff duration. For Frenzy, being in Combat is defined as having either dealt or received damage within the last 5 seconds. Self-damage and environmental damage do not count.

Vorpal Weapon

Deals increased damage against Minibosses, Bosses, and Vehicles, as well as Players in their Super Ability. Damage increase by Ammo Type: • Primary Weapons: 20% [60%] • Special Weapons: 15% [20%] • Power Weapons: 10% [20%]

Adrenaline Junkie

Weapon Kills grant 1 Stack of Adrenaline Junkie for 4.5 seconds. Grenade Kills grant all 5 Stacks instantly even if the weapon is stowed. Adrenaline Junkie benefits: • 20 Handling • 6.7%|13.3%|20%|26.6%|33.3% increased damage at 1|2|3|4|5 Stacks

Demolitionist

Weapon Kills grant 10% Grenade Ability Energy. Kills with Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, Glaives, and Fusion Rifles grant 20%. Using your Grenade Ability refills the Magazine with a 3 second cooldown. Ability energy gained may be significantly decreased based on your selected ability's Chunk Energy Scalar. Learn more about this mechanic in our explainer blog post on the Clarity website.

Ambitious Assassin

Reloading after scoring Kills with the weapon overfills the magazine from reserves based on the number of Kills scored. Overfill amount maxes out at 150% of the Magazine Capacity. Always rounds up. Kill counter persists through stow. Overfill amount per Kill scored: • Primary Weapons: 20% • Special and Power Weapons: 10%

Overflow

Upon picking up Special or Heavy Ammo: Refills and Overfills the Magazine from reserves. Overfill amount maxes out at 100% of the Magazine Capacity. Activates even while stowed.

Impulse Amplifier

Passively grants 20 Reload Speed and 15% decreased Reload Animation Duration (20% for Rocket Launchers). Passively increases Projectile Velocity based on Weapon Archetype: • Rocket Launchers: 10% • Support-Frame Auto Rifles: 15% • Micro-Missile Frame Weapons: 25%

Harmony

Upon readying the weapon within 3 seconds of getting a Kill with a different weapon: Grants 20% increased damage and 15 Handling for 7 seconds.

Sticky Grenades

Grenades stick to impacted surfaces for up to ? seconds and detonate once an enemy gets within ? meters. Increases Detonation damage by 30% and decreases Impact damage by 85%. Due to the ratio of Detonation and Impact damage being tied to the Blast Radius stat on Grenade Launchers, a higher stat will be more beneficial: • 20 Blast Radius: 6% decreased total damage • 48 Blast Radius: unchanged total damage • 100 Blast Radius: 11% increased total damage
