pandapaxxy (PvE / M+KB / Controller): "The newest and arguably most accessible wave frame sword is Abyssal Edge. The heavy attack shoots you up while throwing a wave, similar to a wave frame grenade launcher, straight forward. Follow it up with a light attack and you'll aggressively fly forward. Slice is the easiest choice as you lower your targets damage output, nice for being so close and stomp mechanics doing so much damage. Add in Redirection or Surrounded for increased damage. Or Hatchling for better Strandsynergy and some added chip damage with some investments." Recommended MW: Impact.

Inspired by @PodvsEnemies episode 129 from 4 February 2024 (https://open.spotify.com/episode/19eFPPXbMv7cC0w8kJ234H?si=d61c9144b9aa4974) with @Saint_Kabr, @ImpetusAlways and @CourtProjects (PvE PvE-Boss PvE-MajorSpec PvE-EndGame PvE-God M+KB Controller): First-choice PvE pick for burst damage against Majors and Champions in general, and in end-game underleveled content. Abyssal Edge is only the second wave sword frame (and the only non-raid option), generating a wave frame on a heavy attack costing 4 ammo, followed up by a homing light attack costing 1. At base, the stats are identical - at the time of writing, D2Foundry isn't showing the in-game stats, but hopefully they'll be added in soon. With 0/1/2/3 reserves mods, total base ammo is 67/71/73/74 (max 77). With a burst damage roll, you'll want as much Impact as possible - look for Jagged Edge as the top choice blade perk, with Honed Edge and Tempered Edge as alternates. for the Guard Perk, Swordmaster's Guard improves Charge Rate for heavy attacks, although if you do guard to reduce incoming damage, Balanced Guard is worth a look. In the first trait perk slot, Relentless Strikes returns 1 ammo for three hits within 2s for better ammo economy, while in the second, the reworked Redirection trait perk lets you build up to 30 stacks by killing 15 Minor adds and use this for ×1.33 damage for 10 hits (using 3 stacks per hit.against Elite or higher enemies. Alternatively, if you're in a crowd, Surrounded passively boosts damage by ×1.4 (×1.47 when enhanced). Runneth Over is probably the more immediately useful origin trait, increasing charge rate for each ally you're within 15m of, up to 5. Recommended MW: Impact, with an Adept Impact mod. Also, don't forget to check whether there's a useful Seasonal Fragile mod for the activity you're running.|tags:PvE PvE-Boss PvE-MajorSpec PvE-EndGame PvE-God M+KB Controller

In the first trait perk slot, Relentless Strikes returns 1 ammo for three hits within 2s for better ammo economy, while in the second if you're playing a Transcendent build, Elemental Honing can work similarly to Bait and Switch to provide a ×1.35 damage boost for 20s for cycling through 5 other damage types with your abilities and other weapons. Runneth Over is probably the more immediately useful origin trait, increasing charge rate for each ally you're within 15m of, up to 5. Recommended MW: Impact, with an Adept Impact mod. pandapaxxy (PvP / M+KB / Controller): "While swords aren't super popular in PvP, Tireless Blade gives you some easy ammo back after every other kill. Valiant Charge also allows you to launch forward after blocking for a short time. En Garde gives you a massive damage bonus to kill even roaming supers. Not as good as Assassin's Blade, but we don't have that." Recommended MW: Impact.

What these Abyssal Edge (Adept) perks do

Slice

Using your Class Ability (even while the weapon is stowed) grants you 'Slice' for 8 seconds. While 'Slice' is active, damaging non-Severed targets Severs them, grants a stack of Slice, and refreshes the buff duration. (Hitting immune targets also triggers this.) Reaching 5 stacks immediately removes the buff. If the Severing hit kills the target, the perk will not trigger and you will not gain a stack.

Redirection

Hits against Minor Combatants grant 2 Stacks of Redirection. Maximum of 30 Stacks. Stacks remain active while stowed. Hits against Elite or higher-ranked Combatants consume up to 3 Stacks to grant 33% increased damage per Stack consumed.

Surrounded

Being within 15 meters of 3 Enemies grants 40% increased damage. Buff lingers for 1.5 seconds once the condition is no longer met. Exceptions: • Swords only receive a 35% damage increase. • Grenade and Rocket Launchers receive a 35% Explosive Damage increase and a 40% Impact Damage increase. • Wolfpack Rounds receive a 35% Explosive Damage increase.

Hatchling

Scoring a Precision Kill or 3 kills within 3 seconds of each other spawns a Threadling at the target's location.

Relentless Strikes

Scoring 3 Powered Hits within 2? seconds of each refunds 1 ammo. Wolfpack Round Hits do not count.

Duelist's Trance

Sword Kills grant 60 Guard Resistance, Guard Endurance, and (Guard) Charge Rate. Buff is removed on stow.

En Garde

Readying the Sword grants 30% increased damage for 1.5 seconds. 2? second cooldown after the buff expires.

Tireless Blade

Your first Powered Sword Kill after (re)spawning refunds 1 Ammo. Afterward, every other Powered Sword Kill also refunds 1 Ammo.

Valiant Charge

Taking any damage while Guarding increases Lunge Distance by 80% for the next swing within 1 second. Guarding while receiving Healing Effects (including healing over time from Restoration) from allies also activates the perk.

Flash Counter

Taking damage while Guarding emits a blast in a wide, 8? meter long wide cone in front of you. The blast disorients enemies hit by it for 5 seconds and deals weapon-matching elemental damage. The damage scales up from 75 [14] damage at point-blank range to the maximum of 110 [45] damage after ? meters. The strength of the disorientation against Players similarly also scales up with distance. 2.5 second cooldown between activations.

Elemental Honing

Dealing Elemental Damage grants a stack of Elemental Honing for 20 seconds for each unique Element used. Maximum of 5 stacks. Gaining a stack refreshes the buff duration. Duration cannot be refreshed once at 5 stacks. Buff can be activated while stowed. Kinetic Damage does not trigger the buff. Weapon damage increase at 1|2|3|4|5 stacks by weapon damage type: • Kinetic: 10%|20%|30%|35%|40% • Elemental (PVE): 2.5%|10%|20%|30%|35% • Elemental (PVP): 1.25%|5%|20%|30%|35%
