pandapaxxy (PvE / M+KB / Controller): "Claws of the Wolf is an amazing addition to the Iron Banner loot pool. We have needed a void rapid fire pulse rifle since Gridskipper in Season 14. Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds are going to have your Void synergy and Perpetual Motion and Rampage will bring up your stats and damage, respectively." Recommended MW: Reload Speed.

pandapaxxy (PvP / Controller): "Where Claws of the Wolf will shine is over in PvP. Perks like Snapshot Sights, Headseeker, Elemental Capacitor and Perpetual Motion coupled with Kill Clip or Zen Moment will really make this weapon shine. Being able to get some consistency or damage in both columns will allow this weapon to be flexible in both drop RNG as well as perk combinations to allow you to mix and match to your heart’s content." Recommended MW: Stability.

Adamsdown_Boy - information as at v8.0.0.6 (PvE / PvE-MinorSpec / PvE-God / M+KB / Controller): PvE pick for add-clearing Minor enemies in general content, particularly with void fragments. Claws of the Wolf returns in season 24 with a largely new (largely PvP-focussed) perk pool, but with stats the look a bit anaemic by comparison with its peers. The Recoil Direction needs a bit of attention, so Arrowhead Brake is the obvious barrel perk to sort that out. In the magazine perk slot, you could either look to fill out the stats a little more, or get a combat effect mag perk. If you don't already have an Elsie's Rifle with the void combination of Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds in the two trait perk columns, then this roll can synergise with void fragments to boost the subclass verbs and provide a void overshield while clearing groups of adds. Unfortunately, the Skulking Wolf origin trait has no effect outside of Iron Banner. Recommended MW: Handling or Stability, with a Backup Mag mod.

Adamsdown_Boy - information as at v8.0.0.6 (PvE / PvE-Champion / PvE-EndGame / PvE-God / M+KB / Controller): PvE pick for use against Barrier Champions. In the magazine perk slot, for a niche roll to tuck away for when Pulse Rifles have an anti-barrier artifact mod, Armor-Piercing Rounds do 5% extra damage to barriers, and enemy shields. There's not really much choice in the first trait column other than Perpetual Motion, which does fill out the gunfeel stats nicely, and then Disruption Break in the second column boosts kinetic damage by +50% after piercing the barrier, which should make clean-up easy. Unfortunately, the Skulking Wolf origin trait has no effect outside of Iron Banner. Recommended MW: Handling or Stability, with a Backup Mag mod.

What these Claws of the Wolf perks do

Perpetual Motion

While moving at a minimum of 2 meters per second: Grants a Stack of 'Perpetual Motion' after 2 seconds and a second Stack after 10 seconds. Each Stack provides 10 Stability, 10 Handling, and 10 Reload Speed. All Stacks are removed if movement speed is below 2 m/s for 0.5 seconds. Works and can activate while stowed.

Rampage

Weapon Kills grant a Stack of Rampage. Maximum of 3 Stacks. Stacks expire one at a time every 4.5 seconds. Grants a 10%|21%|33.1% damage increase at 1|2|3 Stacks. Does not buff the Splash/Explosive damage elements of other perks.

Kill Clip

Finishing a reload within 3.6 seconds of a kill grants 25% increased damage for 5 seconds. Stowing the weapon removes the buff. Does not buff the Splash/Explosive damage elements of other perks.

Destabilizing Rounds

Weapon Kills apply Volatile to enemies in a 7 meter radius around the target and grant Volatile Rounds for 3 seconds. 1.5 second cooldown between activations.

Repulsor Brace

Kills against Void Debuffed enemies grant a 45 HP Void Overshield for 8 seconds (12 with Echo of Persistence).

Benefits granted per Stack: • Grants ?% Flinch Resistance • Reduces Visual Weapon Shake by 15% • Reduces Reticle Bounce by 15% Stacks gained per Weapon Hit by weapon type: • Hand Cannons, Scout Rifles: 2? • Pulse Rifles, Sidearms: 1.5 • Other Weapons: 1
