pandapaxxy (PvE / M+KB / Controller): "Swordbreaker is the returning shotgun from Crota’s End. Here we have a case of “interesting but not incredible.” Being able to get both Pugilist and One-Two Punch is a fantastic combo, but I feel that most people will opt for Subsistence to forget what reloading is like. Demolitionist is good for grenade heavy builds and also for forgetting the reload animation. In the final column, One-Two Punch is the best in slot, but on a Strand ability focused build you can get away with Golden Tricorn for even more damage. Sword Logic is also here if you want to run through enemies like Doom Guy and shotgun everything." Recommended MW: Reload.

pandapaxxy (PvP / Controller): "Swordbreaker is interesting. It might take the place of the best lightweight frame shotgun. Being craftable, tying with the highest handling within its archetype, and being able to hit 100 range are just a few things that makes Swordbreaker interesting. You can choose a variety of different perks, you only need one handling perk and Threat Detector to hit 100 handling with an animation scalar, meaning you can invest the rest of your perks into range. Going with Smallbore, Accurized Rounds, and Opening Shot puts you at 91 range and 100 handling. Or you can opt for 100 range and 91 handling by swapping a few things around. The best part of this shotgun is its versatility." Recommended MW: Handling or Range.

Inspired by @PodvsEnemies Podcast vs Enemies episode 79 (https://open.spotify.com/episode/1qz5FD88RfmGHDjedV6nGo?si=7e1c1558ecea4f1c) with @ImpetusAlways, @Saint_Kabr and @CourtProjects. First-choice PvE pick for burst damage against Major Spec enemies in end-game content. Shapeable. Swordbreaker is back as a strand shotgun, has good stats - particularly the ones that matter most - and like all lightweights offers +20 Mobility and +6.25% movement speed. As with most shotguns, Handling matters most, so Barrel Shroud or Cockscrew Rifling both offer bumps as the barrel park. For the mag perk, Assault Mag improves rate-of-fire or Tactical Mag increases the magazine by one and boosts reload speed. With a shotgun, you're going to be in CQC to proc Threat Detector as the first trait column support perk, to boost reload speed and handling or you could use Subsistence to continually reload your magazine as you get kills, if you're using this more for add-clear rather than single-target damage. The same CQC condition will proc Surrounded for a +40% (47% on Enhanced Surrounded) boost to damage to help clear the most subborn Minor and Major enemies, and help with the occasional Boss. The Cursed Thrall origin perk synergises well with melee builds and is a lot of fun for helping soften up groups of enemies when active. Recommended MW: Handling or Reload Speed, with a damage boosting (Major, Boss or Taken Spec) mod.|tags: PvE, PvE-Boss, PvE-MajorSpec, PvE-BossSpec, PvE-EndGame, PvE-God, M+KB, Controller

In the second column, as the signature perk, the new-to-season-22 Sword Logic could be interesting on a shotgun - you should be able to proc a lower stack pretty easily, and use the damage boost to help activate the higher stacks. The Cursed Thrall origin perk synergises well with melee builds and is a lot of fun for helping soften up groups of enemies when active. First-choice PvE pick for Strand synergy and add clearing chunkier Minor Spec enemies in end-game content. For the mag perk, Assault Mag increases rate-of-fire, which is always useful. To make the most of the Cursed Thrall origin trait, which synergises well with melee builds and is a lot of fun for helping soften up groups of enemies when active, Pugilist is an obvious choice in the first trait column as the support perk, regenerating melee energy on weapon kills. In the second, Golden Tricorn can help you make the most of the Strand melee abilities (you're going to be in CQC, with a shotgun), setting yourself up for +50% damage for chunkier minors and the occasional major, and Cursed Thrall explosions on a kill. What these Swordbreaker perks do

Pugilist

Weapon Kills grant 10% Melee Ability Energy. Kills with Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, Glaives, and Fusion Rifles grant 20%. Dealing Melee Damage grants 35 Handling for 3 seconds. Ability energy gained may be significantly decreased based on your selected ability's Chunk Energy Scalar. Learn more about this mechanic in our explainer blog post on the Clarity website.

Golden Tricorn

While the perk's buff isn't active, Weapon Kills grant 'Golden Tricorn x1' for 7 seconds, increasing weapon damage by 15%. Additional Kills refresh the buff duration. While Golden Tricorn x1 or x2 is active: Grenade or Elemental Melee Kills matching the element of the Weapon grant Golden Tricorn x2 for 10 seconds, increasing weapon damage by 50%. Clarity tooltip editor's note: We're replacing the previous Powered Melee term with Elemental Melee. The former is now exclusively used for perks that require the consumption of a Melee Ability Charge. This note is temporary and will be removed in the future.

Full Choke
